Markus Wilhelm is a professional brand development specialist with management experience as well as a business owner. After acquiring a Diplom-Kaufmann from the University of Passau, Germany, Markus Wilhelm pursued a career in the media industry. Most notably, he has worked with Bertelsmann AG and Time Warner, as well as publishing houses and direct marketing firms like Bookspan and Doubleday Direct, where he was CEO.
Upon moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina after retirement, Markus Wilhelm has become an active member of public health and sustainability initiatives, serving on the board of the University of North Carolina School of Public Health and as an advisor to the UNC Water Institute. Mr. Wilhelm’s diversification into the business of sustainable energy came about when he and his wife began a green construction business focusing on luxury homes with stellar environmental credentials, which became a solar energy development initiative by the name of Strata Solar, LLC, in 2009.
Six years later, Strata Solar is a frontrunner in the solar energy development sector, with clients ranging from Bayer and GSK to IKEA and the United States Department of Defense.
